Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has accused his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, of battling serious drug and alcohol addiction — which he claims is at the center of their ongoing marital crisis.
In a statement released on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, Nwoko said Regina’s alleged addiction has resulted in erratic behavior and violent outbursts at home. He expressed concern for her safety, revealing that he had advised her to undergo rehabilitation either in Asokoro, Abuja, or abroad — particularly in Jordan, where he believes she would have limited access to drugs.
According to the senator, Regina rejected his proposal and instead relocated to an undisclosed location where she could easily obtain the substances.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current struggle with drugs and alcohol is the cause of our marital problems. I fear for her safety if she refuses rehabilitation. She has now moved to a place where she will have unrestricted access to drugs,” Nwoko wrote.
The lawmaker also claimed that despite being married to several other women, none have ever accused him of violence. He alleged that Regina had recently assaulted three of his domestic staff and damaged property, including vehicles and windows, during a fit of rage.
Nwoko further accused two individuals — identified as Sammy and Ann — of supplying drugs to the actress. He said one of the recent incidents of chaos in their home began after a nurse allegedly exposed Regina’s substance use.
“I gave her a clear condition to accept rehab either in Asokoro or outside Nigeria, especially Jordan. Instead of taking our son, Moon, to the hospital, she threatened to kill our nurse for revealing her drug problem,” he stated. “While I took Moon to the hospital, chaos erupted at home, led by Sammy, Regina’s main drug supplier. Another known source of her drugs is a woman called Ann.”
Regina Daniels, 25, gained fame as a child actor and is now one of Nollywood’s most prominent figures. She married Senator Nwoko, a lawyer and politician, in 2019, and they share two children.
Earlier, a viral video that surfaced online on Saturday showed Regina crying uncontrollably and accusing Nwoko of repeated domestic abuse. In the clip, she could be heard saying, “Not again, I can’t stand the violence. It’s too much.”
The video, which circulated widely on X (formerly Twitter), showed the actress surrounded by several people — including a woman believed to be her sister — as she appeared visibly shaken and close to fainting.
“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence,” Regina cried in the video.
At one point, a man holding what seemed to be a stick appeared in the footage, suggesting that the situation had turned tense before those around her tried to calm her down.
The video has fueled widespread speculation about the state of the couple’s marriage, which has long attracted public attention due to their 40-year age gap.
In response to the viral incident, Regina’s brother, Ojeogwu Samuel Danhillman (known as Sammy West), publicly condemned Nwoko in a post on his Instagram Story, accusing the senator of repeatedly abusing his sister.
He wrote:
“It pains me that people want to laugh at my sister’s pain. Let me repeat — anywhere a man beats a woman, whether she’s my sister or not, I’ll fight. Senator Ned Nwoko, you’re lucky. After beating my sister and smashing her head against the wall, you wanted to send thugs? I swear I’d have fought you with my blood.”
The conflicting claims from both parties have sparked heated debate online, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations of domestic violence and substance abuse within the high-profile marriage.
