A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday evening at the Takie Roundabout in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to several others. The crash caused serious traffic disruption and damaged nearby shops and vehicles.
According to reports, the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. when a truck coming from Bowel Trunk “B” reportedly suffered a brake failure. The driver lost control, veered off the road, and rammed into the front of Akanni Bookshop before colliding with another truck and a Toyota Corolla with registration number KNH 853 SB.
The impact pushed the vehicles into nearby buildings, including the Ogbomoso Post Office and a phone accessory shop known as Success Communication.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that one person died instantly while others sustained various degrees of injuries. The wounded victims were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“This is not the first time such a tragedy has happened here. We’re appealing to the government to take urgent steps to prevent more accidents at this roundabout,” said an eyewitness, Mr. Ojo Taiwo.
As of press time, the wreckage of the vehicles remained at the scene, awaiting clearance. Authorities advised motorists and pedestrians to be cautious while navigating the area to avoid additional mishaps.
