The Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Emmanuel Alogbo, has condemned the abduction of church members during a service in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State. He called on Governor Usman Ododo to intensify rescue operations and ensure the victims’ safe return.
Gunmen had invaded the church during a service on November 30, 2025, and abducted several worshippers who remain in captivity.
In a statement released on Saturday and signed by the church’s spokesperson, Omololu Olubode, Alogbo described the attack as alarming and a threat to citizens’ freedom of worship.
He warned that turning places of worship into targets for violent groups reflects the worsening security situation in Kogi State and poses grave implications for religious freedom across the country.
While acknowledging recent federal and security efforts against banditry and kidnapping, Alogbo urged the Kogi governor to take swift and decisive action, stressing that the safety of the worshippers depends on the urgency of the response.
He also appealed to Nigerians and the international community to support ongoing efforts to end attacks on worship centres. The incident adds to a series of kidnappings and security breaches recently recorded across Kogi State and other regions.
