A school principal identified as Mrs. Alamu has appealed for urgent help after she, alongside several teachers and students, was reportedly abducted by armed men in Oyo State.
In a video circulating online on Sunday, the woman, who said she is the principal of Community High School, Esinele, explained that the attack happened around 9:30 a.m. on Friday in Oriire Local Government Area.
According to her, the gunmen invaded the school premises and forcefully took away staff members and students.
“On Friday around 9:30 a.m., armed men attacked our school and abducted many of us, including teachers and students,” she said while pleading emotionally for assistance.
Mrs. Alamu called on the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, the Christian Association of Nigeria, and concerned Nigerians to intervene and ensure their safe release.
“We have been held here since Friday. We are begging everyone to help us so this situation can be resolved peacefully and no lives will be lost,” she added.
Another victim, identified as Temitope, who appeared in the video carrying a baby, also appealed for urgent intervention.
She said she works with the First Baptist Church in Ogbomosho and explained that the abductors took both school staff and pupils during the attack.
“We are pleading with the federal and state governments, the church, and the community to come to our rescue. Please help us so these people can release us,” she said.
Temitope also expressed concern over the condition of the children in captivity, saying many of them had been crying continuously.
“The children are here crying. Please don’t abandon us. We need help urgently,” she added.
Although the authenticity of the viral video could not be independently confirmed as of press time, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the police were aware of the footage and investigating the situation.
“I have seen the video, and we are working on it,” he stated.
The incident followed earlier reports that gunmen attacked a secondary school in the Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area, abducting the principal along with several students.
The development has sparked widespread concern on social media, with many Nigerians calling for immediate action to secure the victims’ release.
