A young man identified as Chisom has reportedly lost his life following a confrontation over a phone charger in Ihiala, Anambra State.
The incident occurred on December 19 after an argument broke out between Chisom and his cousin, whose identity has not yet been disclosed. According to reports, Chisom had earlier lent his cousin a phone charger. Tension arose when he later went to retrieve it, leading to a disagreement that escalated into violence.
During the altercation, the cousin allegedly attacked Chisom, inflicting multiple stab wounds. Reports further claimed that the suspect’s father, who is also Chisom’s uncle, joined in the assault, resulting in Chisom’s death.
Both the cousin and the uncle were later arrested in connection with the incident. However, the situation reportedly sparked unrest in the community, with youths allegedly setting the uncle’s house on fire.
A video circulating online showed the deceased lying on a hospital bed as grieving relatives mourned his death.
Attempts to obtain official confirmation from the Anambra State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to the police spokesperson had not been returned at the time of reporting.
The incident adds to a growing number of fatal family disputes in the state, often triggered by minor disagreements that escalate into deadly violence. Similar cases involving conflicts over property, money, and personal belongings have previously been reported across several communities in Anambra State.
