Security operatives have arrested three senior members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) in Kwara State over allegations that they supported kidnapping activities linked to Fulani bandit groups.
According to security reports, the suspects—elderly Fulani leaders aged above 60—are accused of sponsoring and assisting criminal networks responsible for abductions across parts of the state. Sources disclosed that the arrested individuals reportedly confessed to facilitating several kidnapping operations and providing logistical support to bandit groups operating in the region.
Efforts to obtain a reaction from the spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, were unsuccessful. She responded via WhatsApp that she would provide further details later.
The arrests come amid ongoing military operations targeting bandit and terrorist hideouts in Kwara. Joint air and ground offensives have been launched in areas such as Ifelodun, Edu, and Patigi Local Government Areas, with several camps reportedly destroyed and multiple suspects neutralised.
Security sources said the offensive has disrupted the activities of criminal groups, forcing many bandits to flee their strongholds while sustaining significant casualties. The operation is aimed at dismantling the leadership structures, logistics networks, and operational bases of kidnapping and terror gangs along the Kwara–Niger axis.
However, military authorities expressed concern about informants and collaborators within local communities who allegedly leak information about troop movements, thereby undermining security operations. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by exposing individuals who support criminal groups.
Community leaders have also been advised to educate residents on the dangers of protecting criminals, warning that such actions prolong insecurity and endanger innocent lives.
