Veteran Yoruba actor and former President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), Adewale Elesho, has undergone a successful facial surgery following concerns over an injury noticed on his face.
Drivetvnews gathered that the development was announced by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Oluwafemi Adejonwo, popularly known as Femson, in a Facebook post.
Concern over Elesho’s health grew after the actor was seen with a visible injury on his face during events surrounding the burial of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The appearance triggered speculation on social media, with some reports alleging that the veteran actor was suffering from skin cancer.
However, the ANTP dismissed the speculation, confirming that Elesho had undergone an operation and was stable and recovering.
In its statement, the association said the surgery was successful and thanked members of the public for their calls, prayers and concern over the actor’s condition.
In a subsequent update, Adejonwo also urged fans and well-wishers to continue praying for Elesho’s speedy recovery.
The ANTP did not reveal the specific nature of the surgery and did not confirm that Elesho had been diagnosed with skin cancer.
Elesho was among the colleagues who participated in activities held in honour of Ogogo before and after his death.
Ogogo died at the age of 66 after battling cancer and was buried in Ilaro on August 24, 2026, following a series of funeral activities in Lagos and Ogun State.
