The Yoruba Leaders of Thought has praised the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the August 15 Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, for accepting the outcome of the poll.
Drivetvnews gathered that the group said Oyebamiji’s decision helped ease political tension and promote peace in the state while also preventing prolonged legal disputes over the election.
Led by APC chieftain Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, the group congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election and commended him for supporting President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027.
In a statement issued by its National Secretary, Bayo Aina, in Ado Ekiti on Friday, the organisation disclosed that it had set up a fact-finding and reconciliation committee to assess the state of the APC across the South-West.
The committee, chaired by former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Asimiyu Alarape, is expected to make recommendations to the party’s leadership in the region.
Aina said Oyebamiji’s acceptance of the election result had helped prevent further tension and contentious litigation, allowing Adeleke to concentrate on governing the state.
The group also urged politicians across the South-West to respect the law and reject violence in their pursuit of political ambitions.
It commended President Bola Tinubu for what it described as his role in ensuring that the Osun election was conducted peacefully and without violence.
In a congratulatory message to Adeleke, the group said his victory across Osun State reflected the level of support he enjoyed among voters and represented an endorsement of his performance in public office.
