Veteran Nollywood actor Antar Laniyan has said he would walk away from friends who criticise President Bola Tinubu in his presence, explaining that he prefers to avoid political arguments in his personal relationships.
The actor made the statement during an interview on the Oyinmomo TV podcast, where he discussed his approach to political conversations among friends.
Laniyan said he would rather leave such discussions than engage in arguments about the president, insisting that Tinubu had done nothing personally against him.
“If you are my friend and while we are together, you talk about President Bola Tinubu, I will walk away because he has not done anything to me,” he said.
He added that even if the president did something against him, he would still choose not to participate in the discussion.
The actor’s comments came days after fellow Nollywood veteran Jide Kosoko faced criticism on social media over his remarks defending the Tinubu administration.
Kosoko was recently appointed co-director of the All Progressives Congress’ Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate in Lagos State ahead of the 2027 elections.
During an interview on the Talk To B podcast, Kosoko defended the administration against criticism over the country’s economic situation, arguing that conditions were not as bad as some people portrayed them.
He also attributed some of Nigeria’s current challenges to previous governments’ failure to adequately plan for population growth, while maintaining that Tinubu was working to address the problems.
