Nigerian gospel comedian and pastor Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, has urged people not to lose their faith following the death of gospel singer Toluwanisings despite prayers for his recovery.
Drivetvnews gathered that Woli Agba spoke amid online reactions questioning why the singer died despite prayers for a miracle.
Toluwanisings reportedly slumped and died on October 14, 2026. His family and close associates initially kept the incident from the public while praying for his recovery.
When news of his condition began circulating online, Woli Agba and some associates appealed to the public not to declare him dead, saying they were praying for God to restore him. After more than 10 hours of prayers, the family announced his death at about 11pm on Wednesday.
Reacting to the controversy in an Instagram video, Woli Agba expressed concern that the incident was causing some people to question the effectiveness of prayer.
He explained that miracles should not be treated as guaranteed outcomes, arguing that the biblical account of Jesus Christ raising Lazarus from the dead does not mean every deceased person will experience the same miracle.
According to him, miracles occur in ways beyond human understanding and should not be regarded as something everyone can demand or experience.
Woli Agba also stressed the importance of taking personal responsibility for one’s health, particularly among entertainers and other creative professionals who frequently attend events and work long hours.
He said he had discussed the issue with his spiritual father, Apostle Wole Oladiyan, who emphasised the importance of adequate rest.
The comedian urged actors, musicians and other creatives to prioritise their well-being rather than constantly pursuing money and attending every available programme.
He warned that neglecting the body’s need for rest could have serious consequences, encouraging people to balance their professional commitments with proper care for their health.
