The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has appealed to the Federal Government to urgently address the deteriorating condition of the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.
Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, made the appeal when he received the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, who visited him in Ibadan on Tuesday.
The traditional ruler expressed concern over the state of the hospital, particularly the shortage of medical personnel.
“I am worried about the present precarious situation of the health facility. There is also an acute shortage of medical personnel,” Ladoja said.
He urged the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu to take urgent steps to improve the situation and restore the hospital to an acceptable standard.
However, Ladoja commended the Tinubu administration for its efforts towards restoring what he described as the lost glory of UCH.
He said immediate intervention was necessary to address the challenges confronting the hospital and ensure it can effectively provide healthcare services to Nigerians.
