Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dele Momodu, has declared that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, deserves to be re-elected in the August 15 governorship election.
Drivetvnews gathered that Momodu made the position known in a post on his verified X account on Tuesday, urging opposition parties in the state to unite behind Adeleke, who is seeking a second term on the platform of the Accord Party.
The publisher of Ovation Magazine accused the All Progressives Congress of turning Osun State into what he described as a “theater of war,” arguing that opposition parties needed to work together to prevent the APC from returning to power in the state.
According to Momodu, supporting Adeleke was the most practical political strategy available to opposition parties ahead of the election.
He insisted that his endorsement was not motivated by friendship or family connections, but by what he described as Adeleke’s performance in office.
Momodu praised the governor for his achievements across several sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare, agriculture, commerce, culture, women empowerment and youth development.
He further described Adeleke as a political figure with significant popularity, claiming that the governor could defeat President Bola Tinubu in a popularity contest.
Momodu also warned opposition parties against actions that could provide the APC with what he called an “alibi” to manipulate the outcome of the August 15 election.
He called on political actors to prioritise the interests of Osun residents and work towards ensuring a credible and peaceful governorship election.
