An All Progressives Congress mobiliser in Osun State, Falilat Yusuf, popularly known as Ero-Arike, has allegedly threatened to rain curses on residents who collect rice and other items from the party but fail to vote for its governorship candidate, Munifudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
A video circulating on social media showed Yusuf distributing rice packed in small polythene bags to residents ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Yusuf, who wore an APC campaign shirt and cap bearing Oyebamiji’s campaign branding, said the items were sent by “Alhaja Oyetola” for distribution to residents.
She allegedly warned beneficiaries that anyone who accepted money or food from the APC but failed to vote for Oyebamiji would face misfortune.
“Whoever takes money and foodstuff from us and fails to vote for Munifudeen Bola Oyebamiji, his or her children will not prosper,” she was quoted as saying.
The development comes just days before Osun residents head to the polls to elect a governor for the next four years.
Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is seeking re-election, while Oyebamiji is contesting on the APC platform to unseat him.
The reported distribution of food items and the alleged threat have sparked concerns over voter inducement and attempts to influence voters ahead of the closely contested election.
