The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the death of 20-year-old Uwem Daniel Akpan in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on August 31, 2026, following a reported misunderstanding at Peters Street, Awi community.
The victim was rushed to the Naval Reference Hospital in Calabar, where he was confirmed dead. His remains were later released to his family.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said the teenage suspect is currently in police custody as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and his alleged involvement.
The case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
Police urged members of the public to remain calm and warned against taking the law into their own hands, assuring that further details would be released as the investigation progresses.
