The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Ibrahim Moh’d for allegedly adulterating, repackaging, and selling expired powdered milk to unsuspecting consumers in Funtua Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the suspect was apprehended on June 14, 2026, following intelligence received by officers attached to the Makera Division.
Police said the suspect was intercepted during a surveillance operation and found with ten bags of powdered milk believed to be expired and unsafe for consumption.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ibrahim allegedly mixed the expired product with genuine milk, repackaged the mixture in counterfeit packaging, and intended to sell it to members of the public.
The police noted that the recovered products have been secured as exhibits while the suspect remains in custody pending the conclusion of investigations.
Authorities stated that the alleged offences contravene Sections 152 and 154 of the Penal Code Law 2021 (as amended), which prohibit the sale of adulterated food products and the misrepresentation of goods.
The Commissioner of Police, Ali Fage, warned traders and business owners against engaging in activities that could endanger public health. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating the distribution of substandard and harmful products across the state.
The police also urged residents to report suspicious commercial activities to security agencies to help protect consumers and ensure public safety.
