The Presidency has defended President Bola Tinubu’s administration against criticism from opposition politicians, saying the government never promised Nigerians an immediate transformation into an “Eldorado.”
Drivetvnews gathered that Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made the statement in a post on X on Monday while responding to criticism of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dare accused the opposition of focusing largely on attacking the Tinubu administration without presenting alternative policies or a clear blueprint for addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
He argued that rebuilding the country’s economy would take time, stressing that Tinubu did not promise to resolve all of Nigeria’s problems within three years.
According to Dare, no country has successfully addressed all its challenges within a single four-year term, adding that national development should be viewed as a continuous process.
The presidential aide maintained that the government would continue to highlight what it considers the achievements and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda while defending the policies introduced by the administration.
He also accused those seeking to replace Tinubu of being primarily interested in gaining political power rather than offering Nigerians alternative solutions.
Dare said the government would continue to explain its economic policies and efforts to rebuild what he described as the foundations of the Nigerian economy.
The comments come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition parties increasingly scrutinising the performance and policies of the Tinubu administration.
