Troops from the Joint Military Task Force in Plateau State, operating under Operation Enduring Peace, have successfully neutralized three terrorists and apprehended two individuals involved in arson.

Captain Chinonso Oteh, Media Information Officer for the task force, confirmed the operation in a statement released on Friday. He explained that during a targeted operation in Dutse Uku, Jos North Local Government Area, troops intercepted two suspects disguised as security personnel who were attempting to set residential buildings on fire. The suspects, dressed in black tactical uniforms, were immediately taken into custody, while two others with gunshot injuries were rushed to medical facilities for treatment.

“In a decisive operation at Dutse Uku, troops responded to reports of sporadic gunfire around 11:45 pm and intercepted two individuals masquerading as security officers while committing arson and other acts of violence,” the statement read.

The operation extended to Karem in Wase Local Government Area, where troops disrupted a significant terrorist movement involving armed insurgents traveling on motorcycles. Three terrorists were neutralized in the encounter. The successes were credited to the strategic deployment of specialized counter-terrorism units, ordered by the Chief of Army Staff earlier in the week.

Captain Oteh emphasized that these measures have strengthened security across the state, countering criminal elements posing as security operatives and reaffirming the military’s commitment to protecting civilians.

“The arrested suspects are in custody, while the injured are receiving medical attention. These actions demonstrate that recent unrest in Jos North is being driven by criminals exploiting deceptive tactics, not by official security personnel,” the statement added.

The military has pledged continued vigilance, asserting that all insurgents, hoodlums, and criminal networks operating in Plateau State will be confronted decisively to maintain public safety.
