The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Roni Local Government Area, Saleh Idris, has been arrested by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operatives in Jigawa. The 56-year-old APC chairman was taken into custody on Wednesday after the victim’s brother reported that Idris raped and impregnated his 14-year-old sister, who worked as a house-help at the suspect’s residence. According to the victim’s brother, the case was reported to NSCDC Roni LGA Division after failed attempts to resolve the matter at the Hisba office. The victim alleged that Idris drugged her, leading to her loss of consciousness, and then sexually assaulted her. The suspect has denied the allegations, and the case is now in court, charged under section 3 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act of Jigawa State.
