Bandits struck Kasuwa-Daji Town in Zamfara State, killing two policemen, two residents, and abducting at least 40 people. The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, including an anti-aircraft gun, unleashed terror in the early hours of the day, shooting indiscriminately to instill fear among the populace.Among their targets was the residence of the former State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Hamisu Kasuwar-Daji. One of his wives and grandchildren were abducted during the raid. The proximity of his house to a police station did not deter the brazen attackers, who overpowered the officers, killing two of them.A resident, Abubakar Kaura, described the harrowing ordeal, highlighting the ruthless efficiency of the bandits in their house-to-house raid. Another resident, speaking anonymously for safety concerns, confirmed the grim toll, revealing that aside from the policemen, two other townsfolk lost their lives.While the Zamfara State Police Command acknowledged the attack, details on the number of abductees remain unconfirmed. However, additional troops have been deployed to restore calm to the besieged town.
