The incident took place around noon on Thursday as the students were preparing for their lunch break.
Addressing the media, Bukar Aji, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, stated that the injured SSII students from GGSTC Potiskum are receiving medical care at Specialist Hospital in Potiskum.
He added that the State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has been assigned to investigate the cause of the incident and submit a report.
Offering condolences to the families of the deceased and support to the injured students, the Permanent Secretary assured that the government remains committed to maintaining its facilities to prevent future occurrences.
