The Anambra State Police Command has provided financial assistance for the urgent medical treatment of a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly subjected to severe abuse by his guardians in Isiowulu, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The child, whose condition drew public attention through a viral social media video, reportedly suffered multiple injuries across his body and is currently receiving medical care under government protection.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka offered support after witnessing the extent of the boy’s injuries and the pain he endured.

According to the police, the intervention reflects the command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals, particularly children, and ensuring victims of abuse receive the care and assistance they need.

The command also confirmed that investigations into the incident have been intensified, with assurances that anyone found responsible will face prosecution in accordance with the law.

Ikenga reiterated that the police remain committed to enforcing laws designed to safeguard children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and all forms of violence.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to working with government agencies, child protection organisations, and community stakeholders to promote and protect the rights, safety, and welfare of children across Anambra State.

He added that the police would continue to uphold justice, compassion, and human rights while ensuring the protection of vulnerable members of society.
