Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, on Sunday paid a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as political consultations ahead of the 2027 general election continue.
Drivetvnews gathered that Makinde was accompanied by former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola during the meeting with the former Nigerian leader.
Sharing details of the visit on his official Facebook page, the Oyo governor said their discussions focused on key national issues in preparation for the forthcoming general election.
“Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” Makinde wrote.
Makinde, who is serving his second and final term as governor of Oyo State, officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election in May.
While Olagunsoye Oyinlola remains a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kayode Fayemi is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Despite growing political consultations ahead of the election, former President Obasanjo has yet to publicly endorse or declare support for any presidential aspirant.
