A graduate of the University of Jos, John Arum, has regained his freedom after spending about two weeks in captivity.
Arum was abducted by suspected kidnappers while travelling along the Jos–Kaduna highway, where he was taken alongside six other passengers. Drivetvnews gathered that during his captivity, disturbing videos showing him being tortured circulated widely online.
His release was confirmed by the President of the University of Jos Alumni Association, Gad Shamaki, who described the development as a moment of relief and gratitude. He stated that Arum has safely returned home and reunited with his family.
Shamaki expressed appreciation for the positive outcome and called for continued prayers for the victim’s full recovery, as well as for others still in captivity.
As of the time of the report, there was no confirmed update on the fate of the other passengers who were abducted during the incident.
