Armed attackers invaded Igbosi Community in Idogun, located in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, injuring several residents and abducting a nine-year-old boy during a late-night assault.
Drivetvnews gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when the gunmen stormed the community, firing gunshots and causing panic among residents. Many villagers reportedly fled into nearby bushes and surrounding areas to escape the attack.
During the invasion, several residents sustained injuries while attempting to flee. The attackers also damaged buildings and destroyed property before leaving the area.
The kidnapped child, identified as Olaosebikan Victor, is the son of a well-known pastor in the community.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command said it had launched an operation to rescue the victim and apprehend those responsible. According to the police, the attack was reported shortly after it occurred, prompting an immediate response from security agencies.
Preliminary findings revealed that the gunmen forced their way into the residence of the child’s father. In an effort to save his life, he escaped into a nearby bush, leaving the boy behind, who was subsequently taken away by the attackers.
Another resident whose home was targeted also managed to escape unharmed after fleeing from the scene.
The police disclosed that officers, working alongside members of the Amotekun Corps, immediately commenced a coordinated search operation across nearby forests and possible escape routes.
Investigations into the attack are ongoing, while security agencies continue efforts to secure the safe release of the abducted child and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide any useful information that could assist ongoing rescue and investigation efforts.
