The wife of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Aminat Titi Abubakar, has predicted that Nigerians will demand that her husband seek a second term if he wins the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking to supporters in Abuja, Titi said Atiku had told her he would serve only one term, but his performance in office could make Nigerians want him to continue.
She described the former Vice-President as an experienced politician and philanthropist who would not need to learn on the job if elected.
Titi also defended Atiku’s decision to continue pursuing the presidency at his age, saying his motivation was to give back to society and transfer his political experience to younger Nigerians.
She criticised the current state of governance and the economy, claiming that the country’s institutions had weakened and that many Nigerians were struggling.
According to her, Atiku would also mentor his deputy during his first term, potentially preparing the person to succeed him.
Titi urged Nigerian youths to actively participate in the ADC’s mobilisation ahead of the election, describing them as the party’s “foot soldiers.”
She further called on young voters to protect their votes and reject attempts by politicians to influence their decisions with money, arguing that such payments could not solve the long-term challenges facing the country.
The ADC chieftain’s wife said Nigerians needed an experienced leader who understood the responsibilities of governing the entire country rather than someone learning on the job.
She therefore appealed to Nigerians to support Atiku, saying the 2027 election presented an opportunity to create a better legacy for future generations.
