The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the possible release of documents allegedly concerning his past by the United States government.
The documents, which are reportedly the subject of a legal dispute in a US court, have become a major issue in Nigeria’s political space, with African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku among those calling for their release.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele claimed that influential individuals were behind the moves to release the documents.
According to the cleric, their release could have serious political consequences for Tinubu and potentially affect his ambition to seek a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Ayodele further alleged that people working to prevent the documents from being released were misleading the President about the seriousness of the matter.
He said the United States remained one of Tinubu’s major challenges, adding that the documents could be released if American authorities decide to proceed.
The cleric also claimed that the release could have wider implications for Nigeria’s political situation, including the possibility of an interim government and significant consequences for the 2027 election.
