The Kwara State Government has approved the reopening of Kwara State Polytechnic, following its temporary closure due to a recent student protest. The institution is set to resume academic and administrative activities on Monday, March 2, 2026.

The approval was communicated in an internal memo signed by the Polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Halima Garba, on behalf of the Acting Registrar. The memo, dated February 26, 2026, confirmed that the polytechnic would reopen to continue academic programs for the 2025/2026 session.

In the memo titled “Reopening of the Polytechnic for Academic and Administrative Work,” management informed staff and students of the government’s directive, urging everyone to return promptly on the specified date.

The statement read in part: “The management of the Polytechnic formally notifies the Polytechnic community that the Kwara State Government has approved the reopening of the Polytechnic for academic and administrative duties. All staff and students are expected to resume on Monday, March 2, 2026. We appreciate the cooperation and patience of staff and students during the closure and look forward to a successful completion of the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.”

The decision to reopen comes as a relief to students and staff who had been affected by the disruption caused by the protest.
