Donald Trump said on Friday that he considers it an honour to target members of Iran’s leadership during the ongoing conflict involving the United States and its allies.
In a message posted on social media shortly after midnight in Washington, D.C., Trump described Iranian leaders as dangerous figures responsible for violence around the world for decades. He added that confronting them militarily was a significant responsibility for him as the 47th president of the United States.
The comments came amid the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28.
During the conflict, former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior officials in Tehran have reportedly been killed.
Trump also criticised media coverage that questioned the effectiveness of the military campaign, insisting that U.S. forces were making significant progress.
According to him, Iran’s military capabilities have been severely weakened and many of its leaders eliminated.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, stated that American forces would intensify their attacks, promising a new wave of heavy airstrikes.
Speaking at a press briefing, he said the day’s operations would involve the largest number of strikes carried out by U.S. forces since the conflict began.
The situation remains tense as the fighting continues, with both sides escalating military actions in the region.
