Founder of the Living Faith Church, David Oyedepo, has advised members of his congregation to share his phone number with kidnappers if they are ever abducted, expressing confidence that such situations would end in their release.
The cleric made the statement during a sermon captured in a viral video, where he spoke about what he described as spiritual authority in handling kidnapping cases.
According to him, his past involvement in similar incidents has led to the safe release of victims. He recounted an experience involving a church pastor who was abducted but later freed after he personally spoke with the kidnappers during a ransom call.
Oyedepo explained that during the conversation, he issued a warning to the abductors, after which the situation reportedly changed, leading to the pastor’s release shortly afterward.
He also shared another account involving a female church member who, while in captivity, declared that she would regain her freedom within a specific time frame based on his instruction. He said the incident eventually ended with her release.
The remarks have sparked conversations online, especially against the backdrop of rising kidnapping cases in Nigeria, with many citizens calling for stronger security measures across the country.
