Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured residents that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe return of teachers and pupils abducted during recent attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area.

Drivetvnews gathered that the governor gave the assurance during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration held at his Ikolaba residence in Ibadan, where he hosted the state’s Deputy Governor, Muslim leaders, and other visitors.

Makinde said the state government, working alongside security agencies, was doing everything possible to rescue the victims and reunite them with their families.

According to him, authorities are working continuously to ensure the kidnapped children and teachers return home safely, while also encouraging affected families to remain hopeful during the difficult period.

The abductions occurred during attacks on Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, as well as Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School in Esiele, where armed men reportedly invaded the schools and abducted several teachers and pupils.

The governor also called on residents of the state to remain united despite political differences and the approach of future elections.

He warned against divisions based on religion, ethnicity, or political interests, stressing that Oyo State has always been known for peaceful coexistence and tolerance among its people.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, praised the administration for promoting religious harmony and inclusive governance in the state.

Special prayers were also offered at the Agodi Eid praying ground in Ibadan for the safe return of the abducted victims, with worshippers urging security agencies to intensify rescue operations and restore peace in the affected communities.
