In a disturbing incident, the palace of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State was attacked by unknown gunmen on Thursday night. Tragically, the traditional ruler of the community, General Segun Aremu (rtd), lost his life in the attack. Additionally, the gunmen kidnapped the monarch’s wife and two others.
Although there are limited details on the incident, the state government has confirmed the tragic events. A statement from the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, expressed his condemnation of the killing and abduction. He described the act as reckless, shocking, and abominable.
The governor has called upon the security agencies to deploy all necessary resources to apprehend the perpetrators, secure the release of the hostages, and bring the criminals to justice. He assured the people of Koro that the authorities will not rest until the culprits are brought to justice.
In light of this tragic event, the governor expressed his condolences to the people of Koro, pledging his support during this difficult time and beyond.
