Yoruba nation activist and founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Sunday Igboho, has pledged to continue the fight against kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements operating in the South-West region.
Speaking during the launch of the security outfit in Akure, Ondo State, Igboho said the decline in cases of kidnapping, banditry and farmer-herder clashes in the region was largely due to the activities of Iru Ekun and its collaboration with security agencies, including the Police, Army and Department of State Services (DSS).
He stressed that security remains a collective responsibility and vowed that the outfit would not relent until forests, highways and communities across the South-West become safer for residents.
Igboho urged members of the security network to always work with relevant security agencies before confronting criminal suspects, while warning them to remain vigilant during operations.
He also called for continued support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that improved security is essential for economic growth and development.
Meanwhile, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Deji of Akure, Oba Adetoyinbo Aladelusi, and the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin, have pledged support for the Iru Ekun Security Network and encouraged residents to cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace in their communities.
