The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alerted security agencies over an alleged plan by purported Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government executives to take over council secretariats across the state.

Drivetvnews gathered In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC alleged that the purported PDP chairmen and councillors planned to occupy the 30 local government secretariats and the Area Office on Thursday.

The party claimed political hoodlums had allegedly been mobilised from within and outside Osun State to assist with the planned takeover.

The APC further alleged that the purported council executives were working with officials of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), while also accusing them of attempting to undermine the ongoing legal process over the disputed council leadership.

The party urged the police, Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to take preventive measures against any action that could threaten public peace.

The APC also appealed to the purported PDP council chairmen to allow the courts to resolve the dispute, noting that the matter remains before the Court of Appeal in Akure.

The party referenced the previous killing of an APC council chairman, Remi Abass of Irewole Local Government Area, and warned that security agencies should closely monitor the situation to prevent a possible breakdown of law and order.

As of the time of filing the report, neither the Osun PDP nor the state government had responded to the allegations.
