The Northern States Christian Elders Forum has urged President Bola Tinubu not to interpret Nigerians’ patience amid economic difficulties as acceptance of the hardship facing the country.
Drivetvnews gathered that the forum made the call in a statement issued by its Chairman, Elder Sunday Oibe, on Thursday.
The elders also appealed to the Federal Government to reverse the latest increase in the pump price of petrol, warning that another hike could worsen the economic difficulties confronting millions of Nigerians.
They urged Tinubu to use the remaining period of his administration to address pressing challenges, including the rising cost of living, unemployment, insecurity and the deterioration of critical infrastructure.
“The patience of Nigerians should not be mistaken for acceptance of perpetual hardship,” the forum warned.
The group further advised the government to consider alternative and sustainable revenue sources rather than repeatedly increasing fuel prices and shifting the financial burden to citizens.
