The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered 25 Automated Teller Machine cards, three firearms and two vehicles suspected to have been stolen during an 11-day security operation across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the operations were conducted between September 16 and 26, 2026.
According to him, the ATM cards were recovered from a 45-year-old suspect, Ameachine Anthony, who was arrested in Igbesa over an alleged ₦2.5 million fraud.
Babaseyi said preliminary investigation indicated that Anthony allegedly used utility bills and newly acquired SIM cards obtained through associates to facilitate the opening of bank accounts, after which the ATM cards were collected for suspected fraudulent activities.
Several mobile phones were also recovered from him. The suspect and the exhibits were subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
In another operation, operatives of SWAT Base 7, Abule-Iroko, arrested three men after intercepting an unregistered tricycle and a TVS motorcycle around Dalemo, Ota, on September 21.
The suspects, identified as Olamide Ayandele, 30; Tope Samuel, 40; and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30, were allegedly linked to vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis.
On September 22, SWAT operatives also arrested a suspected cult member, Peter Olanrewaju, 34, following intelligence about an alleged cult gathering.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Adebayo Sodiq, 36, while operatives recovered one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols. Police said investigations were ongoing to determine how the firearms were obtained and identify other persons connected to the case.
Similarly, detectives from the Owode Egba Division recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle at Mokoloki Village on September 17.
Two suspects, Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, were arrested over the alleged theft, while their alleged accomplice, Saheed, remained at large.
In Olorunda, police arrested Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, after suspected stolen electrical materials were allegedly intercepted along Ayetoro Road on September 19.
The recovered items included bundles of electrical wiring, a change-over box and a circuit breaker box. Another suspect, identified as Tosin, reportedly escaped.
Police also recovered a Safira vehicle allegedly stolen from its owner and arrested a suspect, Olatunji Olalekan, following investigation and tracking by detectives attached to the Ijebu-Ode Area Crime Office.
Meanwhile, officers of the Sagamu Area Command and neighbouring divisions impounded eight vehicles during a “No Parking” enforcement operation around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge on September 26.
The police said the vehicles were removed for allegedly obstructing the highway and that the affected motorists would face prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers for their efforts and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist the command in preventing and investigating crimes across the state.
