African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, prayed for him and expressed confidence in his “triumph.”
Sowore disclosed this in a post on X on Sunday after attending the RCCG National Thanksgiving Service at the church’s headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos.
According to him, he attended the service at the invitation of the church alongside the AAC National Chairman, Pastor Samuel Ajeigbe.
Sowore said he later held a private meeting with Adeboye, during which the cleric offered to pray for him.
He claimed Adeboye told him that he closely followed his activities, described his path as honourable and expressed confidence in his eventual triumph.
Sowore also revealed that the encounter was his second meeting with Adeboye at the same location.
He said their first meeting took place in 1996, shortly after he completed his National Youth Service Corps programme, when he was involved in campaigns against campus cultism.
Reflecting on the latest meeting, Sowore expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received from members of the church, as well as the private conversation and prayer from the RCCG leader.
However, he stressed that his attendance at the thanksgiving service was not intended to promote a political agenda.
Sowore’s visit comes ahead of the 2027 general elections, in which he is expected to contest under the African Action Congress.
