Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has accepted a boxing challenge from fellow singer Teni, after the “Fargin” singer called her out in a viral video.
Teni, whose full name is Teniola Atinuke Apata, issued the challenge on Friday, October 2, and proposed a fight purse of ₦1.5bn.
Tiwa responded to the challenge in the comment section with a brief message: “Pick a date.”
Teni made the challenge while discussing the huge earnings and expensive cars associated with some Nigerian entertainers. She jokingly imagined herself facing Tiwa in the ring and suggested that a ₦1.5bn purse could help her afford a luxury car.
She also added a playful promise to sing for Tiwa after the proposed bout, adding to the humorous nature of the exchange.
Tiwa’s response, however, sparked reactions among fans, with many interpreting it as her willingness to entertain the idea of a celebrity boxing contest.
Despite the exchange, no promoter, official contract or fight date has been announced, meaning the proposed bout remains a playful social media challenge for now.
The development comes shortly after a series of celebrity boxing events organised under Balmoral Group Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring series.
At one of the recent events in Lagos, Big Brother Naija winner Phyna defeated actress Nkechi Blessing in a celebrity bout on October 1.
Other entertainers who have featured in the series include Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe.
