A 16-year-old girl in Delta State has alleged that she was lured to a hotel in the Ughelli area, where two teenage boys sexually assaulted her and recorded the incident on their mobile phones.
Drivetvnews gathered that the girl made the allegation while speaking with the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, following the arrest of one of the suspects identified as Godstime.
According to the teenager, a friend known as Nice Money invited her to the hotel and allegedly arranged for her to meet Godstime and another suspect, Goodluck.
She alleged that after arriving at the hotel, an argument broke out before one of the boys assaulted her. She further alleged that the suspects recorded the incident and later demanded additional sexual acts before agreeing to delete the footage.
The case attracted public attention after a video reportedly surfaced online showing the suspects mocking the girl over her menstrual period.
Confirming the development in a statement accompanied by a video on X, Edafe said one of the suspects involved in recording the footage had been arrested.
The victim also alleged that she eventually managed to escape from the hotel while the suspects were asleep.
Godstime, who reportedly admitted to being involved in internet fraud, acknowledged participating in the sexual assault and recording the video. However, he disputed some aspects of the girl’s account, including the number of times the assault occurred.
He said he had been communicating with the girl on WhatsApp before she arrived at the hotel and admitted that he and Goodluck had sexual contact with her twice.
Edafe assured that the arrested suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The police spokesman also appealed to parents and guardians to take responsibility for the welfare and protection of children, stressing that those found culpable would face legal consequences.
