Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has accused Guaranty Trust Bank of deducting ₦18,912 from his account as a service charge, questioning the basis for the amount.
The 66-year-old actor raised the complaint in an Instagram post on Thursday, where he shared what appeared to be a transaction receipt showing the deduction.
Solade expressed surprise over the charge and questioned why such a large amount had been deducted from his account.
He described the deduction as “theft and oppression” and called on other customers who may have experienced similar charges to speak out.
The actor said he had maintained an account with the bank since 1995 and questioned what service could have warranted a deduction of almost ₦20,000.
Several celebrities reacted to his complaint in the comments section, including actress Fathia Balogun, who also expressed frustration over bank charges.
GTBank had not responded to Solade’s allegation as of the time of the report.
