The Ogun State Police Command has announced plans to arraign three suspects before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court over alleged assault on police officers, obstruction of their duties and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The suspects are Alaba Mulika, 51; Alawode Iyanu, 21; and Temitope Saliu, 29.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, October 2, 2026.
According to the command, the planned arraignment followed an investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, after a video showing a confrontation involving police officers in Ago-Iwoye went viral on social media.
The incident reportedly occurred on September 29 when a police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry on Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye.
The police said that while officers were taking the vehicle to the station, a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV allegedly blocked its movement on Abobi Street.
A confrontation reportedly followed, during which two police officers, Inspector Abolarinwa Wasiu and Corporal Olubamiro Adeniyi, were allegedly assaulted.
The incident attracted public attention after videos of the confrontation were circulated online. The police said the recordings were among the materials examined during the investigation.
Following the Commissioner’s directive, detectives visited the scene, investigated the circumstances surrounding the incident and arrested the three suspects.
The suspects are expected to face five counts relating to alleged conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, serious assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The police said the statement did not provide details of the specific allegations against each suspect.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated that protecting officers carrying out lawful duties remains a priority of the command. He also urged members of the public to use lawful channels to resolve grievances rather than engaging in physical confrontations with police personnel.
