Former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode recently visited his successor, current Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos State House. This marks Ambode’s first visit to the state house since concluding his one-term tenure in 2019.

In a Monday Instagram post, Sanwo-Olu shared that he and Ambode discussed the future of Lagos and how to build upon the existing solid foundation. Sanwo-Olu posted photos from the visit and remarked, “Today, I welcomed my brother and predecessor, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, back to Lagos House on a courtesy visit. Our conversation centred around the future of Lagos and building on the solid foundation already in place. I value his perspective as we all work together to ensure that Lagos remains on the path of growth and development.”

In a separate development, Sanwo-Olu has criticized a post by @Lagospedia on X (formerly Twitter) that urged the Igbo community to leave Lagos and the southwestern region. The post, dated July 27, 2024, called for a significant #IgboMustGo protest from August 20 to 30, 2024, sparking controversy online.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s media aide, Gboyega Akosile, issued a statement distancing the governor and the Lagos State Government from the inflammatory and divisive rhetoric. The statement emphasized that Lagos is a home for all Nigerians, regardless of ethnic background, and condemned the post as an attempt to create discord between the Yoruba and other communities, particularly those who have made Lagos their home.
