The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) has honored its employee, Auwal Dankode, for his outstanding honesty after he found and returned $10,000 while cleaning an aircraft in Kano. The company released a statement on Saturday recognizing Dankode, a Kano native, at its headquarters at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos for his exceptional transparency and integrity.
Dankode, while working with his team to clean an Egypt Air MS 878 flight at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport last Wednesday, discovered the money left by a passenger in seat No 25H. He promptly turned the cash over to the airline’s Station Manager.
Indranil Gupta, NAHCO’s Group Managing Director and CEO, praised Dankode for embodying the company’s core values and announced a series of rewards in recognition of his honesty. These rewards included a substantial cash prize, an immediate promotion, and the position of NAHCO Brand Ambassador.
During the ceremony, Gupta expressed admiration for Dankode’s exemplary conduct, stating, “We are incredibly proud of Auwal’s integrity. He represents the core values of NAHCO—honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work. We celebrate his achievements and view this as just the beginning. We hope the values instilled by his family will guide him towards becoming an exemplary leader. We encourage him to continue his work with the same high level of integrity and diligence.”
Other NAHCO executives also commended Dankode’s actions. Chief Financial Officer Adeoye Emiloju noted that such integrity is authentic and cannot be imitated, while Chief Operating Officer Didier Steullet encouraged Dankode to maintain his honorable path.
As NAHCO’s new Brand Ambassador, Dankode will participate in major company events across the country, assist in promoting the brand, and have opportunities to travel and engage with senior officials and stakeholders.
