The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two individuals, identified as Monday Ogunniyi and Oladeyo Idowu, in connection with suspected ritual activities in Oja Odan, Yewa North Local Government Area. Their arrest followed reports of an abduction that ultimately led to the discovery of human remains.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, explained that the incident came to light when Oladeyo Idowu, a resident of the School 4 area in Oja Odan, reported the alleged abduction of Regina Oladeyo to the police.

According to the police, Idowu accused Ogunniyi of being responsible for Regina’s disappearance, prompting an investigation. During the operation, officers uncovered human remains linked to the suspects.

Odutola stated that police investigations led to Regina Oladeyo being found at the residence of Monday Ogunniyi in the Okegbala area of Oja Odan.

The statement noted, “Upon interrogation, Ogunniyi admitted to abducting Regina but alleged that he and the complainant, Oladeyo Idowu, were both involved in rituals involving human remains. Further investigations revealed that the two men had agreed to source human parts from a decomposing corpse for their ritual purposes.”

Providing further details, Odutola disclosed that on December 16, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Idowu reported to the police that Ogunniyi had abducted Regina. Officers acted on the report, leading to Regina’s recovery from Ogunniyi’s home. During questioning, Ogunniyi confessed to the crime and implicated Idowu, claiming they had collaborated in ritualistic practices using human remains.

A team of detectives later visited a site in the Afige area near a river in Oja Odan, where they discovered a dried human skeleton with female clothing draped over the bones.

Odutola added, “The primary suspect, Monday Ogunniyi, confessed that he and Idowu were involved in storing and dismembering the corpse. Evidence, including photographs and other items, was recovered during the investigation.”

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran for further investigation.
