The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended a landlord and two other suspects in connection with the abduction and brutal murder of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, disclosed this during a press briefing in Akure on Wednesday while giving updates on recent operations by the command.

The victims, identified as 25-year-old Abah Friday and 19-year-old Okah Eloho, were declared missing on June 20, 2025. Lawal explained that the breakthrough came after a petition was submitted on June 24 by a legal firm, G.O. Omoedu & Co., on behalf of Emmanuel Peter, the elder brother of Abah Friday.

Following the report, operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an investigation that led them to Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, where they recovered an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the victims from a suspect, 38-year-old Abdul Mohammed Mubarak. Mubarak admitted purchasing the phone from one Ojo Michael.

Michael was later traced and arrested in Aramoko-Ekiti. At the time of his arrest, police also recovered a Lexus RX 350 believed to have been owned by the victims. During interrogation, Michael confessed to his involvement in the abduction, robbery, and murder of the students.

He revealed that the crime was orchestrated by the landlord, Oladele Femi, who allegedly hired him and another accomplice known as “Kola” (currently at large) to carry out the attack. Investigators also discovered that ₦800,000 was transferred from Friday’s bank account while he and Eloho were in captivity.

Michael further confessed that he sexually assaulted Eloho after she recognized him and later killed both her and Friday to cover his tracks. The bodies were dumped at separate locations between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti in Ekiti State.

Following Femi’s arrest, he reportedly admitted to initiating the crime and helping conceal the evidence. Based on his confession, police recovered Eloho’s body in a bush near Ode-Ekiti. Her remains have been deposited at a hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Efforts are ongoing to locate Friday’s body, which investigators believe was thrown into a river by the fleeing accomplice.

Commissioner Lawal described the crime as a horrifying act driven by greed and betrayal, emphasizing the devastating impact on the victims’ families and community.

“These were promising young students whose lives were tragically cut short. We are doing everything possible to ensure justice is served and the remaining suspect is captured,” he assured.
