Veteran Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, has denied allegations of misconduct during a recent incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. He maintained that he was not the aggressor, but rather the victim in a situation that is now under investigation by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

In a statement released by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, Kwam1 dismissed media reports suggesting that he acted inappropriately or violated aviation regulations while attempting to board a ValueJet flight on August 5, 2025.

“The narrative being circulated about K1 De Ultimate behaving unruly is not only misleading but also far from the truth,” the statement read.

He clarified that the item in question, which allegedly triggered security concerns, was only bottled drinking water given to him in the lounge, and not any harmful substance. Despite attempting to explain, he said the situation escalated unnecessarily.

Refuting claims that he obstructed operations or caused delays, the artist noted that he is a frequent traveler who fully understands and respects airport procedures.

“There was no disruption or attempt to block the aircraft. Such claims are baseless. As a public figure with extensive travel experience, K1 is fully aware of the protocols governing air travel and complies with them,” the statement said.

Kwam1 also revealed that senior officials of ValueJet, including the Chairman and Managing Director, personally reached out to him with an apology. They even offered to arrange a private jet to take him to Lagos at no cost — an offer he ultimately declined.

“If there had been any misconduct on his part, it is unlikely that top officials from FAAN, NCAA, and the airline would reach out to apologise or propose such a gesture. Despite their persistence, K1 politely turned down the offer,” the statement added.

He emphasized that only he and his personal assistant were directly involved in the situation, and that several passengers who witnessed the event encouraged him to stay calm, having seen how things unfolded.

Responding to reports about the pilot’s involvement, the statement noted that the pilot’s license has since been suspended. Kwam1 hinted that any effort by the pilot to shift blame may be an attempt at damage control.

He urged journalists and the public to rely on facts rather than speculation, warning against sensationalism.

“We ask the public and media to remain objective and responsible in their coverage. Let the truth, not assumptions, guide the conversation,” the statement concluded.

FAAN has begun an official investigation into the matter, which has stirred public debate regarding celebrity behavior, aviation safety, and accountability within Nigeria’s air transport system.
