The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has cautioned traditional title holders against abusing their influence to seize people’s wives or lands.

He issued this warning on Friday during his coronation ceremony at Mapo Hall, where he was formally installed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Addressing Mogajis, Baales, chiefs, and other dignitaries present, the former Oyo State governor emphasized that traditional leaders must serve the community rather than exploit their positions for personal gain.

“I urge all traditional title holders to focus on your responsibilities. Do not use your titles to take people’s wives or lands; that is not your role,” Oba Ladoja said.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other notable guests who attended the event, highlighting Ibadan’s importance as a home for all Yoruba people.

“Ibadan is the home of the Yoruba race. Anyone without a house here is yet to have one,” the monarch remarked, noting that Ibadan remains united and capable of resolving its internal issues peacefully.

Oba Ladoja further reiterated his commitment to advancing the interests of Ibadanland, Nigeria, and Africa, pledging to continue working for the people. He also called for the creation of an Ibadan State to further promote development in the region.

The monarch concluded by thanking the coronation committee for organizing the historic event.
