A fire outbreak on Thursday destroyed valuables worth millions of naira at No. 1, Road 10, Adepoju Area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident was confirmed in a statement by the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Services Reform and Chairman of the State Fire Services, Moroof Akinwande.
According to him, the emergency call came in at 11:23 a.m. from a resident identified as Prince Ola, reporting that the building was on fire.
Firefighters were immediately deployed to the location. On arrival, they met one of the twin flats — a three-bedroom residential apartment — already engulfed by flames. The crew quickly began containment efforts and successfully stopped the fire from spreading to the second flat.
The Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command, later joined the operation, and both teams jointly extinguished the fire.
Akinwande urged residents to be more cautious with electrical appliances, advising them to unplug devices not in use and install basic firefighting tools in homes and offices to reduce fire risks. He also encouraged the public to promptly report fire incidents with accurate location details.
