The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man over the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in the state.
The police described the arrest as part of their sustained efforts to curb crime and protect residents, especially women and minors. The incident was reported on December 25, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m. at the Alakia Adelubi Police Division.
In a statement issued on December 30, 2025, and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the command said preliminary investigations showed that the suspect, identified as Daniel Ajibola, allegedly assaulted the teenager after giving her a drink believed to have left her intoxicated.
The statement added that the suspect has been taken into custody and is assisting the police with ongoing investigations. The victim was immediately taken to a medical facility for examination and treatment, while officers visited the scene of the incident as part of the investigation.
Due to the seriousness of the allegation, the Commissioner of Police ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough and discreet probe. The Commissioner also directed that the suspect be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
The police leadership emphasized that the command will not tolerate sexual violence or any form of abuse against women, children, or other members of society. The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
Residents were encouraged to continue supporting the police by providing credible information that can help prevent and detect crime. The command also reminded the public of its emergency contact lines, including the toll-free Oyo State Call Response Center number 615, as well as 08081768614 and 07055495413.
