Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has said having a male heir to take over his business empire is not a major priority, noting that any of his three daughters could eventually lead the conglomerate.
Drivetvnews gathered that Dangote made the disclosure during an interview with ARISE News, where he expressed confidence in the abilities of his daughters, Halima, Fatima and Mariya.
The businessman said all three women, who hold senior roles within the Dangote Group, have shown strong interest in the family business and were not pressured into joining it.
He explained that their education and experience could enable them to introduce fresh ideas and potentially take the company beyond what he has achieved.
Dangote also dismissed the traditional expectation that he should have a son to preserve his family legacy, saying having a male child does not automatically guarantee the success of a family business.
According to him, his focus is not merely on passing the company to a family member but on establishing a strong professional management and governance structure.
He cited global companies such as Microsoft and Apple as examples of businesses that have continued to succeed beyond their founders.
Dangote said his ultimate ambition was to contribute to the industrialisation of Africa, adding that he hoped other Africans would join the effort in the coming years.
