Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has appealed to the public to continue supporting ailing actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, while explaining why the actor cannot currently be moved from his hospital to other locations for alternative or spiritual treatment.
Kosoko, in a statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday, thanked fans, colleagues and well-wishers for the overwhelming concern and support shown to Ogogo and his family.
He said hundreds of individuals had offered medical, spiritual and traditional assistance, with many believing they had treatments that could help the veteran actor.
However, Kosoko explained that Ogogo’s present medical condition makes it difficult and unsafe to move him from the hospital where he is receiving care.
“We have received offers from more than 300, and even over 500 people, each sincerely believing that they have something that could help him,” Kosoko said.
He added that the major challenge was determining how Ogogo could be safely moved from his current hospital while undergoing treatment.
The veteran actor appealed to those who had offered assistance not to interpret the family’s inability to bring Ogogo to them as a rejection of their intentions.
Kosoko said the family appreciates the concern and goodwill coming from people within and outside Nigeria, but stressed that relocating Ogogo to different facilities or locations at this stage would be extremely difficult.
He encouraged supporters to continue offering their assistance from wherever they are, particularly through prayers and other forms of support.
The statement comes amid growing public concern over Ogogo’s health after his daughters, Shakira and Haleemah Hassan, shared an emotional video about their father’s illness.
Their appeal subsequently generated significant support from members of the Nigerian entertainment industry and the wider public, with several celebrities joining efforts to assist the actor and his family.
Medical experts have also advised that patients with advanced cancer require appropriate specialist care and symptom management, while cautioning against unverified treatments that could interfere with medical care.
Kosoko’s latest update indicates that Ogogo remains under hospital care, while his family continues to appreciate the support and prayers of well-wishers.
